Early Morning Assembly..... Kenya Part 7

Hey everyone!  Another Kenya update!  I have so many pictures from Thursday that I have decided to split them up between probably two or three posts as a way to be able to upload more of them since I am having such a hard time choosing which ones to share!  :)

Thursday morning began just like our other days, I woke up around five forty-five so I could be downstairs a little before six for our groups Bible study.  Hehe, I think I just saw every single one of those who know me outside of this blogs eyeballs just pop out of their heads at that announcement.  I know I am not a morning person, but amazingly, in Kenya I am very much so a morning person as well as my usual night owlish self, yeah, I got the best of  both worlds there!  I always loved the early morning times there, they were very peaceful and a great way to prepare for the day.  Around seven, or seven thirty we would eat breakfast  and then try to leave for Mathare by eight.

Our group after breakfast spending some time together before we left for Mabatini.

Next are some  pictures from our daily drive to Mabatini in Mathare,  it was so beautiful!  Amazingly, we never really ran into the famous stuck-in-one-place-forever traffic jams, for which we were quite grateful.

We arrived at Mabatini in time for the morning assembly which is just so precious, I love watching the children sing their praise to God as I showed you in a video in a previous post from a different day.

L to R: Bryan, Lynn, Aubrey, Josh, Jim, Steve

L to R: Zach, Jake, Me, Bryan, Lynn, Aubrey, Josh

Bryan was able to lead the devotion this day and did a great job talking with the kids.

Above is a view of the valley from the school yard the children have their assemblies in.  It was so sad because you would see children standing outside of the schoolyard listening, but they couldn't come in because there are not enough sponsors or space.  Please pray that God will put it on the hearts of people to sponsor children in the valley and that He will also provide the space for all of them.

Blessings,
Michelle

WIWW.... I Miss Kenya Edition

Hey everyone, time for another What I Wore Wednesday!  Today I was really missing Kenya, so I decided to wear one of my  "Africa" outfits, or in other words, an outfit that reminds me of Kenya.  :)

I love this shirt because of the giraffe print on it, whenever I wear it I think of those first five minutes after we left the airport and I saw giraffes just walking alongside the road.  :)

Shirt: Forever 21
Jacket: borrowed from my sister
Tank: Vanity
Jeans: Maurices
Shoes: Payless
Necklace: Pangani, from Kenya
Bracelet: Lake Nukuru, from Kenya

I was feeling lazy with my hair this morning so I just threw it up in a pony tail, so yeah, nothing special.  :P

Also, I am attaching a picture of my travel buddy, dad in his Kenya outfit today.  Yeah, we both have a bad case of I-miss-Kenya blues.
I hope you have a blessed day!

WIWW... Comfy Edition

Hey Everyone,

The order for today was comfy, so yeah, I ended up wearing a sweatshirt once I got home from work... but don't worry, it still fit in the rules for What I Wore Wednesday over at the Pleated Poppy.

Sweatshirt: Vanity
Tank: Walmart
Jeggings: Kohls
Boots: Wet Seal
Necklace: Dustee's

We have had a huge amount of snow this past week and I have been loving it, but it has also made it quite cool, as you can see in the last picture.  :-P

Have a blessed week!

From Work to Casual... WIWW

Hey Everyone, time for What I Wore Wednesday!

Today you will be getting two outfits instead of one.  I just took a second job as a bridal consultant that I am working in the mornings before teaching piano and art in the afternoons.  As a result, I now have to take my work wardrobe to casual for the afternoons and you are going to get to see one of the ways that I do that this week!  I will once again be linking up with the  Pleated Poppy.

First my work outfit:

Cardigan: Body Central
Tank: Vanity
Slacks: Kohls
Shoes: Shoe Carnival
Necklace: Dustee's
Bracelet: Dustee's

Now for turning my work outfit to something more comfortable and casual for the rest of the day-

Tank and Cardigan are the same as above
Jeans- Debs
Watch- VonMaur
Bracelet- birthday gift several years back  (Sorry the picture is side ways, I flipped it several times but it is refusing to stay.  :-s  )
Shoes- Shoebuy.com

I hope you enjoyed another edition of What I Wore Wednesday!

Blessings,
Michelle

Walk through the Old Testament.... Kenya Part 6

Hey everyone, sorry it has been awhile, but I had such a hard time paring down the pictures this time, the kids are all so amazing and I want to show all of them to you, but I only have limited space.  :-(   I wish I was able to share every single picture with you, even the blurry ones, because they all tell part of the story of what happened in Kenya, I also wish I had pictures or videos of some things I didn't think to take pictures of that I wish I could show you.  Better yet, I wish I could just take all of my blog readers back with me and just let all of you see it for yourselves, there is something so amazing about experiencing  it that I cannot put into words.

After home visits on our first day of VBS we went to an Ethiopian restaurant where we had traditional Ethiopian cuisine.   Here are a few pics from that evening, it was so much fun because the apprentices, Glen, and Justine and her husband Ryan (some of the missionaries) were able to join us!

The next day we had VBS again at Mabatini and this day the theme was the Old Testament.  Because the kids would be hearing many stories from the Old Testament we decided to have the draw what they thought a king's house would look like to represent the house King David lived in.   The kids were all so creative and did so great, below are some pictures of them from that day.  :-)

After doing VBS in the morning we split up into the same groups again to do home visits that afternoon.  This day Zach had come with our team to help out Jake and Aubrey in the music center and he was placed in the same group I was in along with Dad, Bryan and Anita like before.  Home visits were so amazing this day, we now knew what to expect and were so much more prepared.  It was also cool how God had placed Zach with us this day as he and Bryan were really able to witness to two men we visited this day.  I also was able to witness to a lady and lead her to Christ!  That was one of the greatest experiences on this trip, knowing that God used me to lead someone to Him!!!
We were also able to encourage several Christians in their faith and encourage them to continue reading the Bible and praying daily so as to grow in their faith.

Just as the day before we once again collected a large group of kids that followed us throughout the valley.  All of the kids were just so sweet and we all greatly enjoyed them.

I hope to do another update soon.  Also, if anyone is interested in sponsoring one of these precious children, CMF  (Christian Missionary Fellowship)  now has it set up on their website where you can choose your own sponsor child!  Many of these children are needing sponsored,  Missions of Hope has added many more children to the schools since we were there in November and they are in need of sponsors!  If this is something you would be interested in, here is the link to their website: https://give.cmfi.org/sponsor.aspx

Blessings,
Michelle
